With previous nominees including Frank Ocean, James Blake, and Stormzy, the BBC Music Sound of 2018 has just announced the latest crop of artists set to make waves in the new year. Compiled by 173 of music’s finest critics, writers, and presenters representing every corner of the industry, the list will be condensed into to a shortlist before an overall winner is ultimately picked in January.
Now in its 16th year, the list is featuring one of its most diverse lineups yet - thank god - with artists hailing from Newcastle to New York, and an assortment of genres represented including house, pop, bashment, and indie.
Ahead of the winner’s announcement in January, the content team at Vibe have chosen their favourites from the longlist below.
Chris’s Pick: Yaeji
Rosie’s Pick: Nilüfer Yanya
